On the slopes of the Galeras Volcano in southern Colombia, 17 smallholder producers across ten municipalities of Nariño grow the coffee behind this lot. Their farms are small (1 to 10 hectares), steep, and among the hardest to reach in the country. Some farmers walk up to two hours uphill just to get to their plantings, then hire local transport to bring the parchment down to the warehouse in Pasto. This is the first community lot from a group that is becoming a Slow Food Coffee Coalition producer group, starting with the 2025 harvest.

Grown at 1,800 to 2,050 metres and fully washed: cherries are pulped and fermented in water to remove the mucilage, then dried — a process that gives a clean, sweet cup with the character of the region on full display. The lot combines Castillo, Caturra, Colombia, Maragogype and Pink Bourbon, all processed the traditional way for the area, a method passed down between generations.

Expect blueberry, apple, chocolate, and a soft, buttery body. A gentle, sweet washed Colombian: fruity without being loud, rounded without being heavy.

A single-origin arabica that works across brew methods, and is particularly lovely as filter or V60, where the berry and apple sweetness comes through clearly, and as espresso, where the chocolate and buttery body take over.
